| A green Fiat and Blue Sparrow were the hits at EV awareness Day at Pioneer Courthouse Square on Saturday August 20th, 2005. Electric conversions from existing vehicles or bought from small or large EV manufacturers by Oregon Electric Vehicle Association (OEVA) members were on view the whole day, although a bright red Ford Escape hybrid showed up to WoW the crowd. Bruce Meland's little white Electra Van was once owned by the City of Portland. Technology back in the early 80's was not sufficient to make it a practical commuter or delivery van. But with better batteries and electronics it is viable today and you will see Bruce driving it around Bend streets, running errands etc... |
