Li-Ion is what all EVs will run eventually. It's inevitable. :^)

It was very, very close, but we set the new record at 15:18.64. The CPI
ER2 racer, using only 254 lbs (115 kg) of LG Chem produced lithium-ion
polymer batteries, spun out twice, losing energy and momentum, but got
back in the race at reached the top with about 2% of its energy left. Our
radar time at Glen Cove was 89.2 mph, uphill going into a hairpin turn.
